Top shelf sushi, sashimi, sakés and specialty Japanese dishes with spicy South American touches in The Shore Club hotel.
Sushi master Nobuyuki Matsuhisa’s Nobu Miami Beach can be found in The Shore Club hotel, a block and a half north of Delano hotel on Collins Avenue. Chef Matsuhisa has acclaimed restaurants in the TriBeCa neighborhood of New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, London and other cities, and is considered to be somewhat of a genius with his intriguing interpretations of sushi and Contemporary and Japanese cuisines. Executive chef Thomas Buckley interprets the master's inspirational fare with aplomb, the dazzling omakase menu featuring Matsuhisa’s trademark infusion of spicy South American touches (from his sojourn in Peru). Special dishes include rock shrimp tempura with piquant cream sauce, artic char with crispy baby spinach, and the signature black cod with miso (imitated by many, equaled by none). Main dishes (served with miso soup and rice) run from Peruvian-style rib-eye steak to beef tenderloin with wasabi-pepper sauce, but don't even think of dining here without at least sampling the town's best sashimi and sushi rolls. Try the spicy yellowtail and jalapeño roll and the tears in your eyes will at least be partly due to joy. Top shelf sakés will smooth the sting.
